Synopsis: Three college friends are heading to Daytona Beach for spring break. On their way they run into three swinger drifters on their way to the same place. They all take the same back road detour and end up in the old fashioned town of Pleasant Valley. Right after they arrive, a biker and his girlfriend pull into the town as well. They are welcomed with open arms by the patch-eyed Mayor Buckman (Robert Englund) who insists that they all stay as the guests of honor for the town’s annual Guts and Glory festival. As the eight guests travel about the town they meet many of the odd characters that live in Pleasant Valley. Little do they know that Mayor Buckman has a sinister plan to do more than enjoy their company at the festival’s BBQ dinner. One by one they all start to disappear without a trace and no one seems to notice because Pleasant Valley is a rural southern town with lots of places to get lost. As it comes down to two visitors left alive they must fight the evil mayor to get out of town. When they do and get to the authorities they are believed to be playing a prank. The local cop takes them to Pleasant Valley which is nothing more than a graveyard.

Review: Other than the unnecessary nudity and partial sex scenes this movie was everything I wanted out of a B movie. It had lots of blood, which rocks, it had lame acting, which is great so you don’t feel bad when some schmuck gets shredded, and it had Robert Englund. I like Englund outside of his Freddy Kruger character. He was kind of Freddy-esque, but different enough where I could really enjoy his role. I liked the twist that the whole town was just ghosts and since you don’t find that out until the end it is only a twinkle in your mind until about 20 minutes left when it really looks that way. I love over the top blood and gore, and if done right, unnecessary nudity is great, however not here.

The best part of this movie is one of the drifters is so skanky and horny that she immediately hooks up with one of the locals played by Harper Alexander (He was the young stoner cop in Cabin Fever (2002) ), while they are making out in some barn he blindfolds her and while she thinks he is tying her up for kinky sex he is really tying her up to be quartered. The drawn and quartered scene is freakin’ sweet potato pie! To watch it is like eating a dozen donuts all by yourself; you feel sick as hell but satisfied with a job well done.

Rating: I give it a 19. I love bloody slasher flicks that don’t seem like slasher flicks. This had a great mix of comedy and blood. Not so scary but when you see the acting you will be frightened. (19of25).

I guess any chick who wants to pop her top or drop trow can get an acting gig. And any dude with a little six-pack and a tattoo who fell out of the Abercrombie & Fitch catalog can get a gig also. Sorry fat dudes who sit around and watch the movies, you can’t be in them. Cuz the only dude like that was in Scream (1996), and Jamie Kennedy isn’t really fitting into the fat guy who watches a lot of movies category. Sorry Jamie, you just aren’t believable in that role.

Me and my brother are though. Think about it Hollywood. Fat guys are the bomb!
