Synopsis: Three friends, Paxton, Josh and Oli, are backpacking through Amsterdam for a little fun, sex, and adventure. While in Amsterdam, they come across another traveler who tempts them with promises of beautiful, willing women in Bratslava. Unable to resist, the trio decide to travel there to get a taste of the European delights. Soon after they arrive, things go from fun to scary as Oli and Josh disappear without a word, and Paxton is left to find out what happened to his friends. What Paxton finds is the sinister intentions of the town and the secretive “Elite Hunting Organization” in what will soon become the fight for his survival.

Review: I have to say that I was extremely impressed with this film. The director relied more on the psychological fear more than the visual blood and gore of most movies. Believe me monkeys, there was blood and gore, but it was the expectation of danger that kept me hooked on this movie. Decent acting, interesting secondary characters, and a great location and story make for a great scary movie any day.

The killing was almost poetic. The killer took his time and kept himself entertained and played cat-and-mouse with his victim; almost giving him hope that he could escape, before he decided to deliver the killing blow…tasty! The Elite Hunting Organization is the type of place you go to bathe yourself in evil and make love to the demons in the back of your mind. Being prisoner here is like waking up in the fifth level of Hell. You gotta love the dark and sinister feel of this movie…so tasty!

The way this film was set up was for the viewer to believe that something like this could actually happen; that people this evil actually exist…wow! That kinda makes me feel warm inside!

Rating: 24. No matter how much I love a movie, it has to be really impressive for me to give it a 25. Hostel (2005) will just have to be happy with a 24 instead. Beautifully written with beautiful violence from beginning to end. If Hostel: Part II (2007) is anything like Part I, there may be hope for those Hollywood punk-asses yet! (24of25).
