Devil’s Trade - 105 - The Burning Tree

Director: Toby Wilkins

Writer: Ben Ketai

Tagline: [None Yet]

Actors: Ed Canossa, Ginny Weirick, Michael Conti

Runtime: 4m 3s

Category: Curse

Synopsis: Anna, Jim, and Darren are heading to the house of the girl he bought the cross from. On the highway, Darren, in the back seat, sees an amazing fire engulfing a tree atop a foothill. Driven by an unseen force, Darren opens the car door and throws himself out. Anna and Jim stop the car and rush to Darren’s aid, only for him to find out that the burning tree is gone. After Darren’s tragic death, Anna and Jim settle into a seedy motel. Some fat trucker makes eyes at Anna and tries to make small talk but she and Jim retire to their room. Things are not going the way they had hoped.

Review: I was very impressed by this episode. I was hoping to get a little more gore this time around, and by golly, I got it! The effects used on Darren after he took his little spill were amazingly believable. Apart from that, the story took an interesting twist by making the curse physically pull Darren from the care by sheer will. I thought that that was a great addition; kinda like personifying the curse or something.

Rating: 23. This episode gave you everything you want out of a horror movie/webisode: gore, a continually compelling story, gore, a hot chick, gore, and bodily mutilation due to a mangling vehicular encounter…and gore. One of the best episodes yet…keep watching! (23of25).
