The team members bicker with local law enforcement for a moment then head inside. There, they find Sara who has been bitten and is in the process of turning. Captain Morse tells Tara, or T-Rex as they call her, to stay with the injured woman. The rest of the team sweeps the rest of the building and purges the rest of the zombie threat. Meanwhile, Sara tells T-Rex that she is pregnant and makes her promise to take care of the baby when she turns. This visually stunning and heartfelt episode will leave you with a gut-wrenching taste for more zombie fun.

Review: Finally! The long-awaited Episode 1. I’ve been waiting a very long time for this and now that I’ve seen it…I feel complete. I gotta hand it to the cast and crew, these people really know their stuff. Coming from a pseudo-independent crew, I’m very impressed at the level of control and care they’ve taken in creating this new series. Once you watch the episode you’ll understand.

This part of the story follows our heroes into more than a routine sweep. There are ethical questions and moral debates, making this a very informative episode. We see Tara (T-Rex), who is the only woman on the squad, constantly as the brunt of numerous sexual innuendoes (yeah…in your end-o. I’ve been waiting to use that for over four months…HA!). We get to see how this takes a toll on her and her ability to cohesively operate within the squad. I think we may see more of a dependency upon Dr. Orchid in the future. I also liked the dilemma of whether or not to kill the injured woman, Sara. It is quite controversial in nature and I think that the argument was very well placed. Major kudos for bringing this argument to light.

The acting was just as good, if not better than the teaser episode. We get to see more of how the group interacts as a whole, as well as individually. Each character is dynamic in their own rite: Captain Morse is the smooth, level-headed, leader; Gellow is the “shit-starter” with a dirty mouth but mad skills; Jones is the cautious one who seems to want to both make fun of and protect Tara; and Tara (T-Rex) is the bad-ass chick with crazy skills and a bad temper (my favorite…nothing more sexy than a hot chick with a gun; I love you Dina). Thus far…I’m impressed with everyone’s performance and can’t wait to see how the characters develop.

The gore and effects were, thankfully, better than the teaser episode. I’m not saying that the teaser episode’s gore was bad; there just wasn’t much of it. In this episode we get more blood and more guns…everyone’s favorites. We get head-shots, blood splatter, and some very, very well done intestines. I loved that scene the best; just the imagery and the grossness of it made me smile bigger than when my wife makes Eggers (scrambled eggs and mashed taters…don’t knock ‘til you try it). Whoever the effects artist is on this wonderful project that dude needs a raise! (Just found out that the effects artist is a woman named Alice Hoff…sorry Alice, you’re still awesome!)

Rating: 25. I can’t really find anything wrong with this episode. The only thing I can think of that I would change is I would like to see more zombies feeding. But that’s a personal preference and that has no bearing on the rating. I just think that it would add a nice touch to the already stellar gore. Either way, great episode with a lot more information and a lot more blood and guts…you’re sure to love it. (25of25).
