Review: Personally, I thought this movie was great. It was fun and the characters stuck out and held their own story throughout the entire movie. Rob Zombie (writer/director) is a sick bastard. The movie was gory and had a weird sense of irony throughout. I found myself humored by the death scenes rather than feeling bad for the characters involved. This movie kind of followed the story line of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) but it twisted half way through. Texas Chainsaw was a horror movie. I felt like Zombie wanted to have fun with the characters and have the bad guys have a funny personality along with the demented mind he created for them. The greatest character in this movie was Captain Spaulding. He is a sick old clown who runs a gas station/museum/horror ride. Oh yeah, he also sells fried chicken.

Rating: I give this a 19. I think because the first half of the movie is like so many others in the torture genre. However, its strength is the sheer oddity of the twist and where it takes the second half of the movie. I love that it was able to stay kind of funny while being a good horror movie as well. (19of25).
