Synopsis: This is a culmination of all seven illustrious episodes of the hit web-series Devil’s Trade. Darren has just purchased a creepy, wooden cross from some girl over the internet. The cross is said to be cursed, and made out of wood from the legendary Devil’s Tree. Once the cross arrives at his house, strange things start to happen to Darren and his sister Anna and her boyfriend Jim. Once Anna starts believing in the curse, they decide to destroy it; which has dire consequences. They find out that the only way to get rid of the curse is to sell off the cross to someone else. Now on the road to meet the girl who originally sold it to him, Darren leaps from the car, in a deadly, desperate maneuver to catch one more glimpse at a burning tree. After police questioning, Anna and Jim settle into a motel. In a desperate attempt to save them, Anna sells the cross to a trucker a few doors down; only to comeback to the room to find Jim drowning in the bathtub! Can they make it to the girl’s house in time to stop the curse? Can it even be stopped?

Review: I would have to say that this was a nice little web-series. I very much enjoyed it as a curse flick and as an entertainment piece. I think that we can expect more great things out of these two powerful companies.

The story was very interesting indeed; a cursed cross causes supernatural harm to three youths. Not all-together new, but definitely a breath of fresh air. It was nice to see something that wasn’t your average slasher or zombie flick; even your average curse flick. I think that most people, even if they are not fans of the “curse” sub-genre, will enjoy this little collaboration of horror.

The acting was not as bad as I had anticipated. I was expecting really bad, college-student acting, but it was nothing at all like that. The acting was actually pretty good for a small production. I really enjoy movies more when I don’t know any, or most, of the actors; it gives me less of a bias opinion.

The gore and effects were very well done. Ghost House Productions and FEARnet have been able to make a mini-series just as professional as any A-rate flick out there. The blood was very well orchestrated and nicely placed. No overkill or unnecessary squirtage, just simple, bloody gore!

Rating: Overall, through each seven episodes I would have to rate this series a 22. It was very well done and very well scripted. The only thing I would have changed is to have a longer back-story on the girl who sold Darren the cross; that, and maybe a flashback or two to the time when the Devil’s Tree was born. I really enjoy flashbacks if you haven’t been able to tell. But that’s pretty much it. If you have an extra twenty-five minutes to spare…catch this mini-series. (22of25).
