Synopsis: Death’s at it again! At a high school carnival, Wendy and her classmates get set to ride the rollercoaster, when fear starts to set in. Before the ride is set to take off, Wendy has a horrifying premonition of the rollercoaster derailing and killing everyone on board. Coming out of her dream, Wendy freaks out and gets herself and the rear passengers kicked off the coaster (surprise, surprise). Wendy’s horrors are realized when soon after the ride starts, the cars derail and everyone aboard dies a horrible death.

Feeling grief over losing her boyfriend, Wendy starts to feel that something sinister is amiss…like Death is coming to finish the job. Together, Wendy and her best friend’s boyfriend, Kevin, start to try and disrupt Death’s plan…and save the remaining survivors.
Review: Well, what more can be said…Death started another list, and again some stupid teenager got too close to its plans. By this time we know some things about Final Destination already:
  • Death likes large groups
  • If you get too close to death it gives you premonitions
  • Even if Death’s first plan gets messed up…it always has a backup
  • You can’t cheat death…you only give it time to come up with a better plan (Death likes to be entertained)

The death scenes in Final Destination are always interesting and, dare I say it, fun! The writers always seem to invest time and effort into creating new and fresh ideas to dispatch their victims. The newest scare tactic brought to Final Destination was a creepy-ass song that played whenever Death set something in motion.

There were a bunch of new twists introduced into the third film. This time the deaths were traceable through pictures taken at the carnival. A second twist was that no matter how many deaths were skipped, Death never seemed to stop. The weirdest twist was one of the victims that was skipped, being convinced that if the last person in line was killed, i.e. Wendy, that the whole trial of death would be stopped.

But this is the ‘final’ final film for Final Destination and Death isn’t leaving loose ends. As a cherry on top of the sundae, Death decides to give Wendy another premonition; only this time, it waits until Kevin, her sister, and herself are on the subway together. That’s when Death makes its movie and gives her the premonition right before she’s about to die, giving her no chance to stop things again. Humans loose…Death wins! This leaves Death as the unchallenged master of his craft.

Rating: Final Destination just gets better each time. Like I said before: appetizer, dinner, and the oh-so-yummy- desert! And this movie would be my favorite…banana pudding. The death scenes were artistic and bloody. The acting was passable and the cinematography was as dark and foreboding as the first two. I was impressed…when I first saw part three I thought it was gonna be a watered-down version of the first two, but I was surprised at how fresh and new it was. It’s amazing to me how many times movies claim to be truly scary (Hostel: Part II (2007)) and they just can’t pull it off. Whereas Final Destination kept it fresh and new all three times. I’m glad I was given an outlet for my thoughts. I truly do love good movies and being able to share my thoughts on movies; good and bad…it makes me happy. (23of25).
